Great Visual Storytelling and PowerPoint Slide Design for Over 15 Years

In 1999, I was working in a corporation as a project manager for a large retailer of microprocessor products. Word got around the company that I was good at PowerPoint. Executives began to hire me “on the side” to help them. Since I have always been profoundly interested in the intersection of images and words I loved this new challenge. Furthermore, I understood that business professionals needed help with their PowerPoints. As a result, Presentation Tree was born.

Since then, I’ve created hundreds of strategic communications and marketing pieces. My clients are located all over the United States and in a few other countries, as well. Because I have created for a wide range of industries there are few presentations I can’t significantly improve.

I mainly provide B2B services to businesses ranging from Fortune 500 companies to start-upMOS_PowerPoints. I sometimes work with non-profits. It’s also been my privilege to help some visionary thought leaders create great presentations.

I have over 25 years of experience as a communications manager and visual storyteller. I am a certified Microsoft Office Specialist in PowerPoint 2013. As a trainer, I have taught hundreds of business professionals how to meet today’s standards for visual communications and wow their audiences.

I am also a public speaker. I have recently given slide presentations at Parsons The New School in New York City and Washington State University. This experience informs my slide design.

Philosophy and Skills

I live to reduce the noise and enhance the signal. Mies van der Rohe famously said “less is more” about architecture. I believe that to also be true about PowerPoint presentations.

In addition to crafting visual narratives, I enjoy researching and writing about cultural history, especially comics (yes, I am a comic book geek). I co-edited and wrote for The Art of Rube Goldberg (Abrams, 2014) and am a columnist at The Comics Journal.  Furthermore, I enjoy the outdoors and once pedaled a bike from Florida to Maryland on a three-month, 3,000 mile adventure. I live in Seattle, WA with my artist wife Claire Mack, two teens, and a house filled with animals and art.
